Kathmandu 05 August 2025 Today, Pakistan Embassy, Kathmandu organized a Talk Programme, titled “Youm-e-Istehsal: The political and Humanitarian Fallout” The event was attended by journalists, writers and analysts as well as human rights activists. Messages of the President, Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan were read out.
In his message, Asif Ali Zardari, President of Pakistan, reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). He condemned India’s attempts to alter the region’s demographic and political landscape through measures like gerrymandering, mass detentions, and silencing of media. In light of recent Indian aggression, he stressed that resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions is vital for lasting peace in South Asia, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to political, moral, and diplomatic support for Kashmiris.
In his message, Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that Pakistan stands firmly with the Kashmiri people and condemns India’s illegal actions since 5 August 2019 to change the status of IIOJK. This day highlights ongoing oppression and human rights abuses by India. Despite this, Kashmiris remain resilient. Pakistan urges the international community to hold India accountable and enforce UN resolutions, pledging continued support for Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, in his message, said that six years ago, India took illegal and unilateral steps in IIOJK to alter its disputed status. Since then, it has implemented measures to change the region’s demography and politics, in violation of international law. IIOJK remains heavily militarized, with ongoing repression of Kashmiris.
Ambassador Abrar H Hashmi, in his remarks in the seminar, stated that the day is a solemn reminder of the ongoing oppression faced by the Kashmiri people under long Indian occupation with draconian laws. He emphasized that lasting peace in South Asia will remain unattainable without a just resolution of the Kashmir dispute and the recent India-Pakistan tension was a stark reminder. He denounced India’s aggression and loss of lives without providing a shred of evidence. The Ambassador responded to the queries of the participants, acknowledged their valuable suggestions, and expressed gratitude for their heartfelt support for the people of IIOJK.
During the follow-up discussion, the participants emphasized the importance of raising the Kashmir issue and the suffering of its people due to unilateral and illegal action of Indian Government. They appreciated the responsible behavior of Pakistan in maintaining the regional peace. They stressed upon the Nepali Government that it should play its role in making effort to resolve issues between India and Pakistan.
